Since Assemblymember Paul Tokasz announced his retirement from the NYS Assembly, the race to become the Majority Leader, the Assembly's No. 2 person, has begun.  Early names surfacing include Assemblymember Joseph Morelle (Irondequoit), Roseann Destito (Rome) and Ron Canestrari (Cohoes, Albany County).

Progressive Values: Freedom, Opportunity, Security, Responsibility PDF Print E-mail

Bernie Horn writes that progressive Democrats have great opportunity in the upcoming elections if they  practice the priority of framing progressive issues in a way that communicates these issues to everyday Americans.  He argues that Americans favor progressive policies but that poor communication of these policies lead to a disconnect between the progressive policies that many American favor and their support of these progressive policies.  Horn argues that progressive Democrats, by using better framing issues, can promote progressive values of freedom, opportunity, security, and responsibility.

Stonewall Announces Jo Wyrick to Serve as Executive Director
Wyrick is First Woman to Lead the Organization

Washington, DC - Today, the board of directors of the National Stonewall Democrats (NSD) announced the appointment of Jo Wyrick to serve as Executive Director of the organization. Wyrick will become the first woman to lead the national organization for LGBT Democrats. Jo Wyrick has led NSD as Interim Executive Director since March of this year and had previously served the organization as Deputy Director. The appointment, approved by the organization's board of directors, is effective immediately.
