Replacement Names Surface As Hevesi Is Expected To Resign PDF Print E-mail

NYS Comptroller Alan Hevesi is expected to announce his resignation Friday afternoon.  In light of the expected vacancy, there have been a number of names that are being circulated as possible replacements for the NYS Comptroller office.  The folks mentioned most prominently are:

  • William "Bill" Mulrow, former NYS Comptroller candidate
  • former Assemblymember Richard Brodsky
  • Assemblymember Thomas DiNapoli
  • former US Attorney and former Attorney General candidate Denise O'Donnell

Others mentioned also include:

  • NYC Comptroller William Thompson, Jr.
  • Assemblyman Michael Gianaris of Queens
  • Assemblyman Joseph Morelle of Rochester
  • Assemblyman Alexander "Pete" Grannis of New York City
  • Adolfo Carrion Jr., the Bronx borough president

Hevesi Indictment Expected PDF Print E-mail

The Albany Times Union is reporting that the Albany County District Attorney is prepared to indict NYS Comptroller Alan Hevesi over the use of a state employee to chauffer his wife should he not resign.  Also, Hevesi will lose favor with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver should he be indicted.

Spitzer Prepares To Lead New York State PDF Print E-mail

Governor-elect Eliot Spitzer is preparing to lead New York State both as governor and as the titular head of the state Democrats.  Spitzer has been busy choosing his top staff and has just chosen two co-chairs to lead the state Democratic committee.  And if that is not enough, Spitzer will have to face hundreds of new appointments by outgoing Governor Pataki who may shape the face of some important policy in the years to come.
